Linked Data, Knowledge Graphs, and Agentic AI for Library Innovation. Laura Akerman, Librarian and Product Manager, Emory University Libraries; Amanda Xu, Metadata Librarian, National Agricultural Library; Jim Hahn, Head of Metadata Research, University of Pennsylvania Libraries.

Explore how Linked Data, Knowledge Graphs, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are shaping the future of library innovation. This workshop covers RDF and ontologies, shows how Knowledge Graphs connect meaning, and demonstrates how large language models (LLMs) integrate with Linked Data through Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Participants will also examine Agentic AI—intelligent systems that reason, plan, and act—through examples like LangChain agents and Vertex AI Search. A real-world case from UPenn Libraries, and review of current AI initiatives by libraries and vendors including ExLibris highlight how libraries can combine structured data and AI for smarter, explainable, and more connected services.
