Interoperability indicates the ability of different systems to work together (inter-operate). In information technology, it describes how effective systems or services are in exchanging information, thus facilitating functionality in one or more interoperating systems. The Interoperability Working Group promotes the ability of Ex Libris systems to interoperate with each other and with third party systems, whether these are from other vendors or built by customers.
