Getting It Right: Common Alma Mistakes and How to Fix Them. Kristen Fredericksen, Collaborative Systems Librarian, The City University of New York (CUNY).

Even experienced Alma users can fall into avoidable traps that slow down workflows or create messy data. This session highlights common mistakes across the Alma interface, acquisitions, electronic resources, fulfillment, and Analytics—drawing on real examples from daily support and troubleshooting. We’ll walk through why these errors happen, how to recognize the warning signs, and the exact steps to fix them. Whether you’re new to Alma or a seasoned user, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to prevent small mistakes from becoming big headaches, and with a toolkit of practical fixes you can apply right away.

From Systems to Students: Simplifying Access to Affordable Course Materials. Andrew Pederson, Systems Librarian and Assistant Professor, University of Nebraska–Lincoln; Melissa Gomis, Chair, Collections Strategy & Open Scholarship,  University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Course material affordability and access are critical to student success. UNL Libraries has engaged in affordable content efforts since 2017, striving to improve course affordability and access by reducing financial barriers. Despite progress, students still purchase materials that could be provided at lower or no cost through the Libraries, OER, or Inclusive Access programs. To address this, we developed and piloted an innovative workflow that integrates Alma, Leganto, and Rialto to identify the most affordable course materials. This scalable process enables the efficient identification and delivery of low-cost materials. This initiative represents a major step toward ensuring that all students have equitable access to the resources they need to succeed academically.

Shelf Help: Fast-Tracking Physical Items Reports in Alma Analytics. Jay Wiese, Analytics Specialist, Institution. Florida Libraries Virtual Campus (FLVC).

Demonstration: We’ll spend 30 minutes in real time building a general purpose physical items report in Alma Analytics that circulation services supervisors can use for managing physical items at their library. We will format the report for export to Excel; build prompts to limit report results by collection/location, item process status, call number range, etc.; and build a summary counts view suitable for running as a scheduled report.
