As a member of the Access Services team, the Evening Circulation Supervisor facilitates access to library materials for DePaul students and other users of the John T. Richardson Library in Lincoln Park and supervises student workers in the department primarily on the evenings and weekends. The Evening Circulation Supervisor will work in a highly-supportive and collegial culture that encourages active participation in meaningful and valuable skills training and professional development. This includes workshops, committee memberships, and engagement in programs that support the Library’s mission and its inclusion, diversity, equity, and access goals, while building connections and partnerships across DePaul’s wider academic and user community.

Facilitate access to library materials-Circulate library materials (including books, media, course reserves, and loanable technology) and materials available through our I-Share consortial borrowing agreement and interlibrary loan. Ensure materials are correctly charged and discharged. Route returned materials to the correct destination. Review and update item and patron records in Alma, our integrated library system database. Provide supplemental support in related access services, such as course reserves and interlibrary loan.
Provide high quality, equitable service to all library users face-to-face at the Access Services Desk, over the phone, and via email and IM/Chat. Assist users in navigating the library catalog to locate specific items. Explain library policies and procedures. Enforce policies in line with DePaul’s Vincentian mission and values. Supervise and mentor student workers-Collaborate with other staff supervisors to coordinate the work of 8-10 student assistants in the department. Serve as the supervisor on duty on rotation with others in the department to directly supervise student workers and assist in troubleshooting issues that arise. Train student workers on circulation policies and workflows. At the beginning of each academic quarter, collaborate with the Circulation Supervisor to create the student worker schedule in consultation with the Head of Access Services and other staff supervisors in the department. Assist in recruiting and interviewing student workers when there are vacancies on the team.
Contribute to the overall operation of the department and the library-Participate in department-wide efforts to review policies and improve workflows. Maintain relevant departmental records and statistics and up-to-date documentation of procedures.
