The Electronic Resources Librarian, under general supervision, performs professional tasks in one or more functional areas within the Library.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Manages the lifecycle of the library’s electronic resources. This includes content management of electronic resources; electronic resource licensing, contracts, and agreements; assistance with vendor negotiations; database or product trials; and ensuring discovery of all the library’s electronic serials and databases.

  • Coordinates troubleshooting access problems of electronic resources.
  • Analyzes and interprets electronic resource usage statistics, such as COUNTER 5 reports, turn-aways, as well as track historical trends and anticipate future trends.
  • Organizes and coordinates daily activities required for operation of the library network, applications, and databases.

Performs Original and Copy Cataloging of Print and Electronic Resources. Performs original and copy cataloging of all formats. Creates and maintains catalog records for the library’s electronic book collections.

Reference, Technical Support, and Subject Liaison. Provides reference and technical support to users.  Maintains professional expertise appropriate to meet service and planning requirements in assigned areas.  Works with the reference team to provide staffing for the research help desk.  Serves as a subject liaison and selector for designated subject matter.  Provides information literacy instruction, serves as an embedded librarian for courses in that subject as requested.

Coordinates the E-Reserve Program. Trains and oversees Circulation Specialist to ensure communication, outreach, and accuracy within the program.

Supervises the Library’s Lab Technicians and ensures they are trained to assist with basic technical assistance in the library, manages student library technology, and assists the Technical Services Department with projects.

University Service and Professional Development. Participates in professional activities, professional development, scholarly research, publication, and service activities as outlined in the Texas A&M University-Central Texas University Library, Library Faculty Promotion Guidelines.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Master of Library Science or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited University. Experience with electronic resources or cataloging.
  • Must be self-motivated, creative, and innovative. Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Two years of professional experience in a library, with a preference for academic libraries.
  • Two years of cataloging or electronic resources experience.

Supervision of Others

This position may supervise employees.

Other Requirements

Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
