ELUNA 2020 Call for Proposals is Now Open!

It’s that time again–time to plan your proposal for ELUNA 2020! We hope you can join your fellow Ex Libris product users at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles, CA from May 5-8, 2020 for the ELUNA Annual Meeting. Additionally, Developers Day+ will be held May 4-5, 2020. Additionally, you may visit https://el-una.org/meetings/eluna-2020/ for preliminary information on registration and hotel rates.

The conference theme is 2020 Vision for the Future of Libraries. Current digital transformations of libraries unite colleagues—librarians, developers, researchers, staff, patrons, publishers, software vendors, data scientists, universities—to collaborate on becoming open global platforms. Libraries continue to introduce virtual reality in their services offered to enhance teaching and learning. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are being incorporated into library software by institutional developers and vendors alike. These technological advances create new user needs for libraries to meet in addition to transforming traditional library services and workflows at a rapid pace. The future of libraries is clear: the continuing digital transformations within our institution communities affect the services provided by libraries. Join us at ELUNA 2020 to envision this future together!

The deadline for proposal submission is January 10, 2020. Speakers will receive notifications regarding proposal acceptance by early February. If you need additional incentive to submit a proposal, can we entice you with a speaker discount? All speakers receive $100 off their registration!

The ELUNA 2020 Program Committee has made new, significant changes to the ELUNA Annual Meeting CFP process that will help ensure all attendees a productive and informative experience at an ELUNA Annual Meeting:

Shift from Product Tracks to Broad Topic Tracks

Due to overlap in product coverage and greater visibility for topics relevant to multiple products, the breakout session tracks will comprise of the following:

  • 2020 Vision for the Future of Libraries (the meeting’s theme)
  • Analytics
  • Content
  • Demonstrations
  • Digital Initiatives
  • Discovery
  • Migration/Implementation
  • Practical Applications
  • Strategy

Note that part of the proposal submission form will include the requirement to tag any applicable Ex Libris products. Tagging will allow attendees to filter sessions by products in all online interfaces of the conference program launched in the spring.

For descriptions of  each track and examples of past sessions that would be considered part of the new track, please visit https://el-una.org/meetings/proposal-tips/track-descriptions

Learning Outcomes

A new addition to the proposal submission form is learning outcomes. We ask that all proposal submitters provide the Program Committee with the anticipated learning outcomes for the target audience. In addition to inclusion in the online programs via the ELUNA website and Sched, these learning outcomes will help the committee make decisions as to which proposals we will accept.

Proposal Selection

Due to the growth seen at recent ELUNA annual meetings, the Program Committee has determined there is a need to be more selective of proposal acceptance than in years past. Please consider this change as an opportunity for collaboration and perhaps reach out to colleagues who have experience in similar areas or topics and submit a group proposal. The Program Committee has developed a rubric for session selection, which can be found at https://el-una.org/meetings/proposal-tips/
