RapidILL Learning Opportunities and an Accessibility Enhancement on the Way

RapidILL Learning Opportunities and an Accessibility Enhancement on the Way
There are several exciting developments in the resource sharing community that we wanted to share with our colleagues.

Upcoming Webinar: RapidILL Do’s and Don’ts
Whether you are new to RapidILL or have been using it for years, there is always something to learn from the collective experience of the community. Members of the ELUNA RapidILL Working Group will be hosting an upcoming webinar focused on sharing practical tips, common pitfalls, and workflow recommendations that can help libraries make the most of their RapidILL participation. This ELUNA Learns session on January 6, 2027 promises to be a valuable opportunity to hear directly from experienced practitioners who work with RapidILL every day and understand the challenges and opportunities that resource sharing staff encounter.

Accessibility Enhancement Approved Through CERV
We are also pleased to share some good news regarding accessibility. Through this year’s Community Enhancement Request Voting (CERV) process, we successfully advanced an accessibility-related enhancement for development. Perhaps even more exciting is that Ex Libris has committed to developing this enhancement without it consuming any customer development points. This represents a significant investment in accessibility and demonstrates a shared commitment to improving the user experience for all patrons.

Accessibility continues to be an important focus across libraries, particularly as institutions work to meet evolving accessibility requirements and ensure equitable access to information and services. Community-driven enhancements such as this one highlight the impact that libraries can have when they work together to identify needs and advocate for meaningful improvements.

Looking Ahead
The strength of the resource sharing community has always come from its willingness to collaborate, share expertise, and advocate for improvements that benefit libraries and users alike. We encourage you to participate in the upcoming discussions, engage with your peers, and stay tuned for additional information as these initiatives move forward. Thank you to the RapidILL Working Group, the libraries that supported the accessibility enhancement request, and Ex Libris for their continued commitment to improving resource sharing and library services.
