September 2026 Rialto Working Group Update

The joint Rialto Working group has officially become two separate entities, one serving ELUNA and one serving IGeLU members. Although the two groups will continue to work closely – monitoring the listserv, sharing product manager meetings, and coordinating work for the CERV process – the groups will have separate meetings beginning in September. We hope that better meeting times (think business hours, not midnight or 4 a.m.!) will help with recruitment for both groups. Please reach out to Rami Attebury if you’re interested in joining!

In product news, Clarivate recently announced a signed agreement with Paradigm for the additional of about 500,000 titles to the Rialto marketplace. This includes a lot of smaller university presses and some overlap with deGruyter titles. Clarivate also recently signed an agreement with DTL (Digital Theological Library) for the addition of 250 titles. In North America, customers can still count on the addition of Ingram and Kortex titles while in the Europe, the first Browns print titles are being acquired by libraries.

Licensing agreements with new vendors continue to be a work in progress. Clarivate is interested in hearing from libraries who are encountering roadblocks on vendor agreements (such as VLEbooks), and they are working to facilitate vendor understanding of the unique licensing requirements of North American customers. Recently, VLE did begin agreeing to some updates to their general agreement. The working group is continuing to bring up issues related to resource sharing, accessibility, and perpetual access with Clarivate staff as they sign-on new vendors. Please reach out to the working group if you have any specific questions or concerns.

Finally, two CERV requests were selected for development during the most recent cycle: RENH-I-104 (Improve the ability to run concurrent fiscal years in Rialto) and RENH-I-106 (Display interested user from purchase request under interested users in cart offer). The working group CERV team would like to thank all customers who submitted suggestions and participated in the voting process.
