Want a quick overview of your configuration settings and set-up status without going into many screens? The HealthCheck tool is a good place to start. Ex Libris recommends running it during implementations, but it might come in handy if you’ve been tinkering. It identifies a few key configurations you might need to finalize – or reset. Come hear about this tool and how a consortial office and an individual institution use it to identify issues for members.

Alma is constantly evolving, and it can be difficult to keep up with every feature. This session is a roundup of useful settings and tools in Alma that you may have missed. All areas of Alma functionality will be covered, including acquisitions, discovery, fulfillment, and resource management. Attendees are guaranteed to learn at least one new thing.

Enhancing Game Discovery: From Metadata Profiles to Alma and PrimoVE Customizations. Coinciding with the acquisition of new games for their board game collection, staff and faculty at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library identified barriers to the collection’s access and discovery. Previous cataloging decisions left students unaware of game inventory and availability. This presentation will showcase our initiative to develop a metadata guidance document to make board game records more accessible and to configure a custom search profile and local data scope for Alma and PrimoVE. With this work completed, the UTC Library now promotes a dedicated search function that allows students to easily discover and access the entire game collection. We will explore the challenges and opportunities of cataloging unique objects in an academic library, focusing on metadata application guides, technical configurations in Alma and PrimoVE, user experience enhancements, and best practices for managing cataloging workflows and enriching discovery services.
