ELUNA Learns Digital Initiatives Session Q & A

Is there an expected timeline regarding implementation of queue management for CDL on the local level?

Daniel Greenberg: Not sure I understand the reference to “local level”. We’re completing enhancements for course reserves in Q1 and will be working on long-term loans in Q2/Q3.

Can you use your own viewer with the CDL functions?

Daniel Greenberg: The main support was built around the out of box viewers, ie Alma Viewer, Universal Viewer and Internet Archive Book Reader. There are several gaps in APIs to allow implementing the full flow in externa viewers. Please open an Ideas Exchange if this interests your institution.

Is it possible to use other book viewers within Leganto?

Kara Young: Yes. There are three options out of the box. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/030Fulfillment/080Configuring_Fulfillment/090Discovery_Interface_Display_Logic/040Digital_Services

Are there any types of content you would like to preserve but are not yet capturing?

Dave Allen, Kim Tryka, Teresa Soleau: Dave Allen (SLQ): ISO images as well as 3D object files; Kim Tryka (NGS): We would like to capture project files from the group who create technologies (like “crittercams”) that explorers use in the field; this would include CAD-type files.; Teresa Soleau (Getty): We are capturing web content (primarily our own site) and relying on Archive-It for preservation. We hope to deposit this content into Rosetta for preservation at some point.

How hard is it to make Alma, Rosetta and Primo work together?

Dave Allen, Kim Tryka, Teresa Soleau: Dave Allen (SLQ): Something; Kim Tryka (NGS): In our case we have an additional system, Axiell’s Collections, which is our system of record for our archival resources and which feeds metadata to both Primo and Rosetta (so, Alma doesn’t enter into it). This is done with separate OAI-PMH feeds; once set up these are relatively easy to maintain; Teresa Soleau (Getty): We implemented Rosetta before there was a full integration with Alma and we haven’t tried much to configure it. We publish digital content from Rosetta to Primo. Some of our descriptive metadata comes from Alma, but it is exported and transformed into DC for Rosetta. There is no real integration between Rosetta and Alma.

Has anyone attempted to set up Remote Digital Repository for Rosetta in Alma?

Teresa Soleau: I couple of years ago I attempted to test this, but there were some bugs that prevented me from getting it working. I haven’t tried again since those were resolved.

What was the purpose of the Primo user in Preservica?

The primo user is defined so it can be given the correct permissions for transferring data between Primo and Preservica, like a service account.

Is there a data limit to the preservica starter?

Spencer Leonhard: The free version is limited to 5GB. Storage upgrades can be purchased and are detailed here – https://starter.preservica.com/pricing.

Is there a relationship between preservica and alma d? alma digital specifically

Spencer Leonhard: Preservica users are aiding in the development of an integration between Alma/Primo and Preservica. Preservica does not provide a direct out of box integration with Alma D currently.

I had asked a question in the previous session that wasn’t fully answered – I was hoping to get an understanding of what the relationship was between preservica and alma digital (if any). Thank you!
