As Director of Library Enterprise Systems (LES), Kirsten leads staff providing enterprise-level information technology systems and services in support of core library operations and, in collaboration with other Libraries units and functions, end user discovery and access services. LES holds principal responsibility for the enterprise library systems that undergird numerous library data management, information retrieval, and transactional services for all University system campus libraries (Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, Twin Cities), including the Twin Cities Law Library. It also provides the University of Minnesota Libraries with data analysis and reporting services related to enterprise systems that, for both strategic and operational purposes, support planning and execution, decision-making, and assessment and evaluation.

Prior to this role Kirsten was the Director for Access & Information Services, overseeing staff in Access Services; Stacks Management; Reserves; Information Services and User Experience; Undergraduate Services; Security; Government Publications; and the Map Library.  Kirsten began her career at the University of Minnesota as the Government Information and Regional Depository Librarian serving the states of Minnesota, South Dakota and Michigan, and working with over 70 selective depositories in public, academic, special and law libraries to support free access to government information.  Prior to coming to Minnesota, she worked in libraries in New Mexico and Colorado.

The University of Minnesota is a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, with 10 other university libraries using software from Ex Libris.
