Karen Glover earned an M.L.I.S. from Florida State University and a B.A. in English Literature from Georgia State University. She began her tenure at Georgia Tech in 2000 as a staff member in Circulation, moving into a faculty position in 2005 as the Circulation Librarian. She later served as Access Services Librarian, Customer Relationship Librarian, and most recently as Service Quality Management Librarian, before her appointment to Associate Dean. As Associate Dean, in the rank of Librarian IV, she provides strategic leadership on matters related to content strategy, access and discovery, and technical and user services and is responsible for ensuring the effective and strategic administration of collection development, acquisitions and cataloguing/metadata services, storage and collaborative collections programs, and interlibrary loan and public services. She is nationally recognized for her service to the library profession through the development of the annual Access Services Conference and is a subject matter expert for circulation and fulfillment. Her research and publication interests include circulation, leadership, organizational architecture, and process improvement. Glover is particularly interested in the issues surrounding discovery, access, and electronic resources in libraries and continues to advocate for more streamlined and improved access to information and library resources.
In 2015 the Georgia Tech Library migrated from Voyager to Alma in preparation for a collaboration with Emory University. The two institutions share an offsite high density storage facility that houses 98% of Georgia Tech’s physical collections. Georgia Tech and Emory Libraries directly “share” their collections using an Alma Fulfillment Network. Karen played a key role in the implementation of Alma and the Emory collaboration.
Georgia Tech recently adopted Leganto to support their classroom affordability efforts that align with the institutes strategic goals.
