Esploro success with Enhancements

ELUNA and IGeLU Esploro product working groups have been using the enhancement process for the past 2 years to work with Ex Libris/Clarivate to deliver needed functionality selected by the member communities.

Doughnut chart representing the enhancement categories 36 Archived, 5 Delivered, 4 Accepted, 0 Rejected, 0 Votable, 8 Not Votable, 4 New, 0 Received from another, 0 Under Review

In the first vote in 2024, five enhancements were voted on and have been implemented (“Delivered” in the chart) (for details, see the blog post Esploro – First Enhancement Vote results or the Esploro Accepted and Delivered Enhancements in CERV)

The four enhancements from 2025 are in process (“Accepted” in the chart)

  • Improve management of Additional subjects/keywords both in the back office and the Portal input (Portal in November 2025)
  • More asset types
  • Ability to harvest OA full-text files or links
  • Researcher’s submission of Media Mentions

The chart also shows 36 “Archived” items that did not receive enough votes in previous years. However, there are some great ideas that could definitely be resubmitted (copy the text for a new submission).

The eight “Non Votable” items are for functionality already in Esploro or which was due very soon. (If we had any merged requests, they would appear here as well. All of these have brief explanations in the “Reject reason” field in the Enhancements Portal.

As we begin 2026, the enhancement process is already underway, with enhancements accepted until Feb 24th, voting to take place April 15-May 6th, and Ex Libris pointing in June. To submit an enhancement, log in to the CERV enhancement portal. More information about the enhancement process can be found on the Esploro PWG page. There are four “New” enhancement requests submitted for 2026 (“New” in the chart). The Enhancement Portal manual provides more details on how to submit items and what the statuses mean.
