Position title: Assistant Director, Data Quality

Position responsibilities: This position reports directly to the Director of Integrated Library Services Gainesville Office for (FALSC) Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative. This position leads the Data Quality workgroup and is located in the Tallahassee office. This position coordinates the work to keep data (bibliographic, patron, and statistical) accurate and up to date; coordinates problem-resolution activities for FALSC -related databases; oversees maintenance of FALSC-related applications databases to ensure high quality; provides services for external customers to support their data and report needs. This position provides support to the Lead Reports Specialist position, oversees coordination of state-wide projects related to the development, implementation and optimization of FALSC-supported services for constituent libraries; communicates with librarians on FALSC committees to develop and deliver user-oriented library programs and services at a statewide level.
Provides leadership and direct oversight of assigned staff in the Data Quality workgroup; plans and approves workload, follows-up with each employee to ensure they have the tools and skills to complete work assignments on time; prepares and carries through to completion the performance evaluation and improvement process; participates in the hiring process; and manages overall performance of assigned staff. Holds monthly coaching sessions and regular group meetings with staff.
Provides oversight for the activities that improve the overall quality of the databases. Coordinates the work of the batch loading of records. Works closely with the Integrated Library Services workgroup on providing reports and statistics. Responsible for stakeholder requests for reports and statistics and assists in the planning and development of the reporting service for FALSC. Expertise in system database structures and FALSC-related software, such as SQL Developer or other report writing tool.
Provides high level oversight of the operational status of FALSC software, databases and products and coordinates problem-resolution activities for each. Consults with FALSC staff, vendors, and other organizations as needed to deliver appropriate and timely services to FALSC users.
Performs work in support of business processes and projects, as assigned. Maintains current awareness of research, trends and developments in areas of responsibility, including library software products and library technology trends. Performs time-sensitive tasks and meets established deadlines; maintains effective communication with FLVC staff and the library stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience related to technical services or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
- Working knowledge of SQL queries for report creation
- Ability to work in an academic library
- Experience training others and the ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
- Knowledge of and the ability to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
- Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, budgeting, and administrative management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of management.
Preferred qualifications:
- Masters of Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program.
- Minimum of four to five years of recent professional experience in academic library.
- Systems-level experience with an integrated library automation system and web-based library services such as Ex Libris Alma/Analytics/Primo VE.
- Working knowledge of Ex Libris Alma and or/ Primo VE and Alma Analytics.
