OSU Libraries invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research Assistant position.

OSU Libraries (OSUL) is committed to expanding support for open scholarship, open data, open science, and open access. The Digital Repository Metadata Specialist contributes to this commitment by using metadata knowledge and expertise to improve the discoverability of open access content in Oregon Digital, OSU Libraries digital asset management system. Oregon Digital, jointly managed and developed with University of Oregon Libraries, contains unique and historical collections that are used for teaching, learning and research.

The Digital Repository Metadata Specialist, a Faculty Research Assistant, reports to the head of the Library Information Technology department. As a member of the Oregon Digital team, they apply metadata standards to describe born-digital and digitized items to be ingested into the repository. They ensure that the metadata is harvested by external systems such as the Digital Public Library of America to expand the points of access for digital collections. As a member of the LIT department, they offer consultations on metadata creation for OSU researchers at several levels – undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff. They may also support metadata work for the institutional repository (ScholarsArchive@OSU) or other digital repository services used by the library. This position contributes to departmental research and assessment activities. They collaborate with library colleagues across departments, communicate with campus partners and research groups, and participate in professional organizations and societies.
